This kirtan (the congregational chanting of the holy names of the Lord) is performed publicly in the streets of towns and villages. This is especially recommended by “Chaitanya Mahaprabhu” who used to perform it on the streets in order to increase one’s love for Lord Krishna.Devotees with musical instruments (mridanga and kartals) hit to the streets, dancing and chanting the maha-mantra “Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare; Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare”.

Indore Congregation and Youth forum groups go out at various locations in and around the town and chant publicly the Holy Names so that it catches the attention of the general public and pass through their ears and awaken their dormant love for the Krishna. The only way to free ourselves from all the temptations and attractions of this material world, is by performance of harinama sankirtana.

That is the only way. Sankirtana Yajna means congregational chanting of the holy names of the Supreme Lord. This is the path prescribed in the Vedic literatures for achieving spiritual perfection in the human form of life, namely God-realization and ending all the sufferings that we undergo in this world. This Sankirtana Yajna comprising Shravanam (hearing the glories of the Lord) and Kirtanam (chanting His glories) helps in remembering the Lord (Smaranam) always.
